Cute, small place to stay near Vernazza. It is tough to get to and from if you don’t follow the bus schedule. Even though we had a car, we didn’t want to drive it up and down because a. The roads are windy and narrow and b. You would pay to park at the Vernazza parking lot and still walk 20 mins to town.

We chose to walk the whole way, which was 40 mins. Not bad on the way down and a scenic route, but brutal going up. However, we preferred the isolation rather than staying down in town near the commotion of so many other tourists.

Highly recommend hitting a grocery store in La Spezia because Vernazza doesn’t offer many options. Would definitely utilize the kitchen because sitting outside is what makes this place worth it.

AC worked great and strong. Bed was comfortable. Shower water was hot and pressure was good. We wish there were more options to get up and town to the house but you take some risks when desiring privacy.

Most holidays start with choosing the right place and imagining how you will fit in, right? And when arriving there, it’s either a match or not. Here, this was something else… If you fancy reading a bit why, start at next chapter. If you don’t, here’s the conclusion : Nice premise but small, quite dark, smelly, in average condition, and far from Vernazza without your own car (forget walking to it), limited views on sea but large ones on the owner’s house, inexistant & impolite owner with a careless unresponsive agency in charge. Sure the 4 euros white wine and barilla pack are a treat, but unless you expect a wormhole experience, forget this place.

Now for the readers who want to know more… First, upon booking you receive a long message (a copy/Paste) from Sergio- the owner- which sets his storytelling around how professional he and his family are. This magnificent message was the last time we’ve heard from him, as no matter the number of messages we sent with basic questions about the place and its surroundings, we never got any reply. We only got twice a cold unpolite link for guest registry, but that’s it. No answers. ever.

Now the best part, the location:
1. The outside is nice, meaning a small rocky cabin, in a fantastic natural park, with remote sea view… but a very close view on the owner’s huge yellow house only meters away.
2. The inside smelled like an old moldy mop, which would be fine if I expected the bat cave experience. But although I like its movies I’m not Batman, and this delicate sewer smell was mainly due to the A/C filters nicely unchanged since the 19th century.
3. The only downstairs window was protected by a mosquito net… only the net was widely torn appart so mosquitoes the size of a truck could pay you a little visit easily.
4. The overall inside impression is dark, no matter how the booking platforms' pictures look, they are all taken with full lights on (and wide angle camera). If you look for a bright large place, forget it, Gollum would have loved that place.
5. The air conditioning -which purpose should be to produce regulated cold air, right?- could only deliver normal air, just like a fan would. So imagine yourself in the middle of an Italian heatwave summer in a cabin with dirty moldy air being ventilated everywhere and no possibility to open the windows. At nearly 300 Eur a night, you wonder why we did not ask to have the A/C fixed. Well, we did. Right on arrival. And there entered the inept agency in that ridiculous game. i'll spare you the details here, but in the end we had to shorten our stay and move on.

Don’t loose your time here, there are loads of other nice locations up there in the marvelous cinque terre. Sergio knows his business, it simply is not what he sells you in the first message you’ll receive.
